Earbags and Olympics

Earbags have a pre-history related to the Olympics and were licensed for the Salt Lake City games in 2002 and the Torino Olympics 2006.

Earbags and the Winter Olympics

It all started at the winter Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway 1994. The weather there was beautiful but very cold every day during the games. With an advert relation to caps and headbands, but with the need to protect my ears from getting frost bitten I used my hands to protect them. Standing like that for a week gets you thinking and this is how the Earbags came to be. The trade name Earbags popped up in my head looking at the steering wheel during my eight-hour drive back home to Sweden where it said "Airbag".

Fortunately, there are four years between each winter Olympics and it gave us plenty of time to prepare for Nagano. The Japanese had in gratitude to the Norwegians for their Lillehammer arrangements constructed a place called Norway Village at Nakuba, next to the ski jumping and slalom arena.People paying a visit to the Village were given a pair of Earbags. The Norwegians won Gold, silver and took fourth and seventh place in the men's slalom competition which brought extra attention to Norway Village and Earbags.

The Olympics 2002
The Earbags were also present during the Olympics 2002 in Salt Lake City, this time with the licensed logo obtained by our North American distributor. Two nations came to Salt Lake City with their own Olympic Earbags. The Swedes wore Earbags in yellow and blue, the Norwegians came with their flag and the Olympic rings. The Earbags were shown in different media and different places during the Olympics. They were on television (NBC's program "Today" had them on the show), the safety guards used them, and Wall Street Journal had an article about the Earbags in their issues in the US, in Europe and in Asia.

If you want to buy Earbags with your country's flag, visit our web-shop. Also Earbags with the Olympic rings and the Torino 2006 emblem can be purchased through our webshop.
